Use Cloud Rendering for a Solar Study

After preparing a solar study that consists of one or more images, you can send it to the cloud for rendering.

Note: To render in Autodesk® Construction Cloud, you must be an Autodesk subscriber.

When you send the solar study to render in the cloud, Autodesk® Construction Cloud will do the following:

  1. Prepare a render preview for the solar study images using specified settings.
  2. Enable you to adjust exposure control settings.
  3. Perform the full rendering of the individual images of the solar study.
  4. Notify you when the rendering is complete.
  5. Enable you to view the solar study or download a zip file containing the rendered images.

You can then use the images to create an animation, if desired.

To render a solar study in the cloud

  1. Prepare a single-day or multi-day solar study that spans a range of time and generates multiple images.

Preview the solar study in Revit, and adjust as needed until you are satisfied with the results. (See Workflow: Solar Studies.)

  2. Click View tabPresentation panel (Render in Cloud). If prompted, sign in to your Autodesk account.
  3. On the Autodesk® Construction Cloud Render in Cloud dialog, do the following:
    1. Click Continue.
    2. For Select 3D views to render in the Cloud, specify the desired settings.
Note: You cannot change these settings later, so be sure to select the appropriate render quality, image size, and file format on this dialog now.
    3. If you want to receive an email when the final rendering is ready, select Notify me by e-mail when complete.
    4. Click Start Rendering.

Autodesk® Construction Cloud prepares previews of the solar study images to be rendered.

If desired, you can click View tabPresentation panel (Render Gallery) to see the rendering job in your gallery and monitor its progress.

Note: If you want to cancel the preview rendering, move the cursor over the project's thumbnail image, click the down arrow, and click Cancel Rendering.

When the preview images are ready, Autodesk® Construction Cloud displays a notification message in Revit. It also sends a notification email if you selected that option earlier.

  4. Using the link provided in the notification message, open your render gallery to see the resulting preview images for the solar study.

For instructions, go to Autodesk Rendering.

When viewing the image thumbnails, you can do the following:

    1. Adjust exposure control settings, including Exposure Value, Highlights, Mid-tones, Shadows, Saturation, and White Point.
    2. Click Start Rendering to begin the final rendering.

Autodesk® Construction Cloud notifies you when the rendering is complete.
