Optimization and Best Practices for Structural Models

Plan your model to better implement the structural analytical model and structural connections.

Analytical Model Management

When not using the analytical model or you are not concerned with analytical model connectivity, disable the automatic Analytical Support Check to significantly improve the performance of the model.
  1. Click File tab Options.
  2. Click the User Interface tab.
  3. In the Configure section under Tools and analyses, deselect Structural analysis and tools.

To disable the Analytical Support Check feature for a worksharing project, modify this setting in all local computers that are working on the project.

Note: When you reenable Structural analysis and tools on an existing project you may experience a long delay while Revit recomputes the Analytical Check information. Once the computation completes, such delays should no longer occur.

Connection Elements and Performance

If possible, avoid excessive modeling of 3D connections such as connection plates and bolts. When you develop typical details, attempt to create or use 2D detail component connections.
