Use the Color Books Dialog

Specifies colors using third-party color books or user-defined color books.

  1. From the appropriate Revit dialog, access the Windows Color dialog.

For example, in the Material Editor panel of the Material Browser, for the Graphics asset (Graphics tab), click the Color property value. (See Materials.)

  2. In the Color dialog, click the Color Books button.
  3. Choose a color book from the Color Books drop-down.
Note: The color book files are stored in "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT XXXX\ColorBooks" for a default installation path. Color book files use an .acb file extension and must be located in the specified folder.
  4. Click a color in the pane to select it.
Note: Color books containing up to ten colors per page are supported. To view color book pages, select an area on the color slider or use the up and down arrows to browse.

The front swatch previews the selected color against the original color swatch.

  5. When you find the desired color, click OK.
  6. Click OK to exit the Color dialog.
  7. The Color Books dialog specifies the color book to be used when you select colors.

    RGB Equivalent

Indicates the value for each RGB color component.

    Color

Indicates the selected color book color. You can search for a specific color in a color book by entering the number of the color swatch and pressing Tab. This action updates the new color swatch with the requested color number. If the specified color is not found in the color book, the closest number match is displayed. If you press Enter after entering a number, the color is applied. If the specified color is not found in the color book, a message is displayed, informing you that it is not a valid color name in the specified color book.
