Video: Manage Circuits

Create panel schedules to display information about the panel, the circuits connected to the panel, and their corresponding loads.

This video demonstrates the following:

  1. Rearrange circuits on the panel.
  2. Balance the load across phases.
  3. Group circuits, spares, or spaces together and lock them in place.
  4. Assign spares and spaces to open slots.
  5. Use the electrical settings option to assign circuit names.
Note: This video was recorded using Revit 2012. When using a newer software release, you may notice differences in functionality and user interface.

Revit provides multiple options for performing circuit management tasks.

When you design an electrical power system, you can create panel schedules that display information about the panel, the circuits connected to the panel, and their corresponding loads.

When a panel schedule is displayed, you can rearrange circuits on the panel by moving them up, down, left, or right.

Balance the load across phases so that the loads are equally distributed. Group circuits, or spares, or spaces together and lock them in place. Assign spares and spaces to open slots. When a panel is full, and you try to assign and additional circuit, Revit prompts you to specify whether to replace and existing spare or space with the new circuit.

Use the electrical settings option to assign circuit names. The available naming convention are: Panel Name, Prefixed, Standard, and By Phase. The selected convention can help you determine how the circuit information is displayed in the panel schedule. In this case, the circuit name is determine by the panel name.

Use the Electrical Settings dialog as needed to further customize your panel schedules. You have multiple ways to manage circuits in your electrical design.
