Use view references to display the detail and sheet numbers for a corresponding view.

You can place a view reference on any project except for perspective view, a schedule, or a sheet view. In this example we'll look at the floor plan in this model.

The floor plan is divided into two sections; one covering the horizontal stretch on the top, and one covering the vertical stretch towards the bottom of the floor plan with a matchline used to indicate the split.

Each of these sections have been added to their own respective sheets:

Sheet A002 for the horizontal section and A003 or the vertical section.

If we're looking at the horizontal section, we will want to know what's below the matchline where the floor plan has been cropped. Using a view reference can inform us as to where to find the corresponding view.

To add a view reference to the project, we'll open the horizontal view.

Click View Reference in the Tag panel under the Annotate tab. We can select the type of view and the target view for the view reference.

For view type, select Related Views. We want to reference the Vertical section sheet in this example, so we'll select Floor Plan: Level 1 Vertical for the target view.

We'll now click just below the matchline to place the view reference.

The view reference shows the sheet number and the detail number where we can find the vertical section. 1/A003. If we navigate to Sheet A003 we can see that the vertical portion of the model is found in the corresponding sheet.

You can edit the view reference by clicking the reference again and modify the details in the view reference panel.

If we want to hide view references, we'll navigate to the Visibility/Graphics button in the graphics panel under the view tab.

Use view references to display the detail and sheet numbers for a corresponding view.
