MEP Fabrication Parts Instance Properties

View and modify the instance properties that define MEP fabrication parts.

To change instance properties, select the element and change its properties on the Properties palette.

Product Entry Displays the available product list entries for a fabrication part.
Reference Level Defines the associated level of a fabrication part.
Upper End Top Elevation Defines the elevation at the top of the upper end.
Middle Elevation Defines the offset or elevation.
Lower End Bottom Elevation Defines the elevation at the bottom of the lower end.
Offset Defines the offset or elevation of a fabrication part.
Slope Defines the steepness of a fabrication part.
Start Offset Defines the distance of the start point from the reference level for a fabrication part.
End Offset Defines the distance of the end point from the reference level for a fabrication part.

Main Primary Depth Defines the depth of the primary end.

Wall Thickness Displays the material thickness of a pipe section.

Specification Defines the specification for a fabrication part.

Stiffener Specification For fabrication ductwork, displays the stiffener specification.
Fabrication Service Displays the service for a fabrication part.
Weight Displays the weight of a fabrication part.
Roughness Defines the roughness used to calculate the relative roughness of the duct or of a pipe against the size of its diameter.
Double Wall Material Defines the angle for a fabrication fitting.
Double Wall Material Thickness Defines the material thickness of the second skin for insulated ductwork.
Part Material Thickness For fabrication ductwork, displays sheet metal thickness.
Mechanical - Flow
Section Defines a run of segments and fittings that have the same velocity, for example, the same flow, size, and shape.
Flow Displays the flow rate for the selected duct or pipe.
Relative Roughness Defines the roughness used to calculate the relative roughness of the duct.
Reynolds Number Displays the Reynolds Number for the selected duct. The Reynolds Number is used to help predict flow patterns in a duct.
Flow State Displays the flow state for the selected pipe. Flow through a duct or pipe can be classified as laminar, turbulent, or transitional (also called critical), depending on the Reynolds number.
Velocity Displays the velocity for the selected duct or pipe. The velocity of flow depends on the size of the duct or pipe and the flow rate.
Velocity Pressure Displays the difference between the total pressure and static pressure for the selected duct or pipe. Pressure loss is proportional to the velocity pressure in turbulent flows.
Friction Factor Displays the friction factor for the selected duct or pipe. The friction factor is calculated for a duct or pipe with turbulent flow.
Friction Displays the friction for the selected duct or pipe. The amount of pressure loss per length unit due to friction in a duct or pipe.
Pressure Drop Displays the pressure drop for the selected duct, pipe, fitting, or connector. To see the pressure drop for each path through the fitting, check the pressure loss report. This is a read-only parameter.
Critical Path Indicates whether the selected pipe is on the critical path of the network. This is a read-only parameter.
Identity Data
Image The image associated with this element instance. To change the image, click the value field and click the browse button to open the Manage Images dialog.
Comments Displays a comment that you enter or select from the drop-down list. Once entered, you can select a comment for other instances of elements in the same category, regardless of type or family.
Mark A user-defined element label. Use Mark values to tag elements and identify them in a schedule.
Alias Displays additional information about a fabrication part. Commonly used to display abbreviations, such as FD or VCD on equipment.
Item Number Displays the item number for a fabrication part. The item number is most commonly used as a way of identifying fittings either for manufacture or location purposes.
Product Code Displays the product code for a fabrication part. The product code uniquely identifies the items in the fabrication configuration.
Fabrication Notes Displays the user-defined manufacturing-specific notes for a fabrication part.
Insulation
Overall Size Displays the size, including the insulation, for a fabrication part.
Insulation Type Displays the type of insulation for a fabrication part.
Insulation Thickness Displays the thickness of the insulation for a fabrication part.
Lining
Lining Type Displays the type of lining for a fabrication part.
Lining Thickness Displays the thickness of the lining for a fabrication part.
Fabrication Product Data
OEM Displays the original equipment manufacturer from the manufacturer's datasheet for a fabrication part.
Product Short Description Displays the OEM-defined short description for a fabrication part.
