Draw Horizontal Pipe

You can draw horizontal pipe segments in a plan view.

  1. Open the view for the system.
  2. Click Systems tabPlumbing & Piping panel Pipe or Pipe Placeholder.
  3. In the Type Selector, select the pipe type.
  4. Optionally, in the Properties palette, under Mechanical, select a system type.
  5. On the Place Pipe tabPlacement Tools panel, select placement options.
  6. On the ribbon, verify that Tag on Placement is selected to automatically tag pipes. Then specify the following tagging options on the Options Bar:
    If you want to ... then ...
    change the orientation of the tag select Horizontal or Vertical.
    load additional tags click Tags.
    include a leader line between the tag and the pipe select Leader.
    change the default length of the leader enter a value in the text box to the right of the Leader check box.
  7. On the Options Bar, specify layout options.
  8. Specify the start point for the pipe.
  9. Specify the endpoint of the pipe. If you are connecting to another pipe segment or fitting, click the connector on the other pipe segment or fitting, or click the center line of the existing pipe.
  10. Transitions, tees, and elbows are automatically added to the segment for 2-line pipe according to the routing preferences. Placeholder pipe is drawn without elbow or tee fittings.

    Angles for fittings are drawn according to the Angles setting in Mechanical Settings.

    If the pipe is assigned to a system, fixtures and equipment connected to it are added to the same system.

    Pipes display with centerlines in hidden line view. For pipe fittings, you can override the default centerline by editing the family, adding a model line, and setting its subcategory to centerline.

    By default, centerlines are turned off in U.S. templates.

    When drawing pipe from a component with multiple stacked connectors, a Select Connector dialog displays to let you specify which connector to use.
