You may encounter this error when upgrading a Revit file because a corrupted element is stopping the upgrade process.

  -  Go through the solution in the article 
		Workshared Model Won't Synchronize, using the older version of Revit that the model was last saved in. 
	 
 
-  Once the damaged families have been reloaded or deleted, try upgrading the model again.
