Missing Dimensions in Linked Files

Dimensions in a linked file do not display.

Issue: Dimensions from a linked Revit file are missing in the host model.

Two types of dimension display errors may occur in linked files:

• Dimensions created in linked file to annotate the references between elements or geometries in the linked file and a nested linked file do not display.
• Dimensions created in a linked file by dimension references from element cut edges do not display.

Solutions:

• Don't create dimensions for elements between linked files if the files will be linked in a host file later.
• Don't create dimensions to elements referenced as cut edges.
• If the two dimension types listed above are necessary, create them in the host file, or use Bind Link for existing link files.
