Video: Work in a Perspective View

When working in a 3D orthographic or perspective view, you can add and modify building elements to develop and refine the design.

This video demonstrates the following:

  1. Set the target position, eye elevation and crop region for the view.
  2. Create and edit elements in the view.
  3. Use temporary dimensions to move model elements.
Note: This video was recorded using Revit 2017. When performing the procedures using Revit LT, you may notice minor differences in functionality and user interface.

To create a perspective view, place a camera in the project, and set the target position.

After placing the camera, use the Properties palette to adjust the eye elevation of the camera and the target elevation. If necessary, adjust the crop region by selecting the boundary of the view and using the grip controls.

Create and edit elements in the perspective view to better understand how your changes effect the design of the space. For example, you can add and adjust the curtain wall grid lines. Design and develop the curtain wall between the 2 spaces in the context of the room.

Use snaps when adding a wall near the stairs. Use the Edit Profile tool on the wall to edit the shape of the wall so it fits under the stairs. Add a sketch-based element such as a ceiling. Select pick lines from the draw gallery and use the context in the view to create the sketch. Use the Tab key to select a chain of edges and create the sketch. The edges of the sketch may fall outside the crop boundary of the view.

Use temporary dimensions in the view to move elements in the model. When temporary dimensions are not shown, click Activate Dimensions on the Options Bar.
