View a demo on taking measurements in VRED.
For additional information on measurements, see the following:
Video captions: To measure objects in Autodesk VRED, you will need the Measurement tool. Open in the main menu bar, under Interaction, the menu option, Measurement. With the help of the right mouse button, call up the submenu Add Point to Point Measurement. The point-to-point measurement can measure the distance between two selectable points. Set two points with the aid of Shift and the left mouse button. Autodesk VRED automatically measures the distance between the assigned points, which can be read out in the renderview, under Properties > 3D Distance. Furthermore, the coordinates of the two designated points are described under First and Second Position. Use Pick to redefine the points or position them move precisely.
Create a new measurement, and this time, select Add Point to Object Measurement. With point to object measurement, the distance between a set point and an object can be measured. Autodesk VRED automatically looks for the shortest distance. Define, with the help of Shift and the left mouse button, a point and then an object between which the distance shall be calculated. Via Pick, the chosen point can be redefined. Move your object in the renderview. Select your measurement in the editor and call up the submenu with the right mouse button. Pick Update Measurement. The new distance is automatically determined.
Next, create a so-called gap measurement, which finds its application in the measurement of gaps. With the aid of Shift and the left mouse button, select a point on the inner side of the geometry and the point on the inner side of the geometry on the opposite side. Autdesk VRED automatically reads the distance between these and illustrates them as a diagram. Navigate your mouse cursor to this diagram to read out the maximum and minimum distances between the geometries.
Open the Visualization section to set the color of the measurements or to make the dimensioning visible or invisible.
