Video captions: In the main menu bar, under the Rendering menu, select the Surface Analysis tool. Pick Activate Surface Analysis to enable the tool. With different modes at hand, surfaces can be analyzed. Tessellation errors, as well as surface mistakes can be made visible. In the Isophotes mode, a virtual light source is used to diffusely light the geometry. All points that have the exact same brightness value are connected to each other by a line. Via Set to Axis, the light is oriented along the axis X, Y, or Z. Activate Show Light Direction. With Pick Surface Normal, you can define the light direction with the aid of the surface normals on your geometry. So, hold down ShIft and the left mouse button and navigate the manipulator in your scene. Use Camera View Vector aligns the light along the camera vector. The options in the Lines / Stripes section, can modify the appearance of the lines. Count can change the amount of lines, while Color controls the color. Under Analysis Mode, switch the mode to Reflection Lines. Alter the value of Lines Spacing to increase the size of the plane and position it as you wish. A virtual plane is generated, which is reflected by the surface geometry. Another option is the change to Longitudinal Lines on a Sphere, which creates a sphere, which is reflected by the surface.
