Behavior Administration Settings

The Behaviors tab on the Vault Settings dialog contains options for editing lifecycle definitions and managing revisions, administrating categories and rules, creating and modifying properties, defining customized numbering schemes, and assigning colors in reports.

Note: The Behaviors administration tab is available only in Vault Professional.

Access the Behaviors tab on the Vault Settings Dialog

  1. Click Tools > Administration > Vault Settings.
  2. In the Vault Settings dialog, select the Behaviors tab.

Lifecycles

Products have defined lifecycles from inception through production. You can edit and assign lifecycle definitions and configure state comments, security, and transitions on the Lifecycles Definitions dialog.

Revisions

Revision schemes allow you to manage assign sequence values, formats, and comments to files and items that have been revised.

Notifications

Configure email notification settings within vault to send notification for the specified lifecycle states transition, using the defined email template, and to the selected members.

Categories

Category management provides a way to group properties logically and assign sets of behaviors and rules to one or more files or items.

Rules

Rules allow you to automatically assign categories to files or items with particular properties.

Properties

Click Properties to manage user-defined properties. All of the extracted properties being tracked by the vault can be managed using the Property Definitions dialog.

Data Card

Click Data Card to configure the data card layout in Inventor, including the number of pages and the properties displayed on each page.

Using Date Only While Updating Properties

Check Using Date Only While Updating Properties to exclude the time when updating Date properties. For example, if you map the Date File Created property to your title block, with this option checked the result could be 5/17/2017, while with the option cleared the result would be 5/17/2017 11:11:10 PM.

Setting Boolean Property Type as Number

Check Set Boolean property type as number to write boolean value to file as 0/1 so that it can be converted back to boolean on server in a different locale.

Automatic Numbering

Numbering schemes used in the Rename wizard can be defined using the Numbering Schemes dialog.

Report Management

Color assignments for data mapping and reports are configured on the Assign Color dialog.
