Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool

The Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool performs a set of checks to identify possible issues with the Autodesk data management server and gathers system information to help diagnose the problem.

The following log files are created:

DiagTool_<date>.logDiagnostic Tool Logs
Sys_Log_<date>.logWindows System Event Log
App_Log_<date>.logWindows Application Event Log
CopyOfvlog-<date>.logMost Recent Copy of Autodesk Data Management Server Log (if-available)

Run the diagnostic tool

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs ► Autodesk ► Autodesk Data Management ► Tools ► Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool.
  2. When the diagnostics are done, you can click View Log File to open the directory containing all the log files.

The conditions are all checked again, and the report window is updated to reflect the new results.

Diagnostic Log Files

The Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool creates log files containing important system configuration information and gathers copies of other necessary system log files into a single location.

The following diagnostic checks gather information:

The log files are gathered and stored in: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\EDMLog.

View Diagnostic Log Files

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs ► Autodesk ► Autodesk Data Management ► Tools ► Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool.
  2. In the Diagnostic Tool dialog box, click Open Log Files to open the directory containing all the log files.

Run a Diagnostic Check

Before using the Autodesk Server Diagnostic Tool on a computer running Microsoft Windows 8 or later, the diagnostic tool must be granted permission to run.

  1. Navigate to Program Files\Autodesk\ADMS [Edition] [Year]\Tools.
  2. Right-click ScriptTool.exe and then select Properties.
  3. Select the Compatibility Tab.
  4. Select the "Run this program as an administrator" check box.
  5. Click OK.
