View Files in a Vault
You can preview files or any version of a file listed in Autodesk Vault before getting the files from the vault.
- To preview AutoCAD .dwg files, Autodesk DWG Viewer is used to show the file. The Autodesk DWG Viewer is included with the installation media.
- To preview Autodesk Inventor files, Inventor Read-only Mode is used as the default for viewing Inventor files.
- All other files are displayed in the viewer associated with that MIME type.
Note: Files that are viewed from inside the vault are downloaded to the local TEMP directory and do not replace the files in your working directory. The files contained in the TEMP directory can be managed using the Microsoft Windows Disk Cleanup utility.
View files in Autodesk Vault
- Click a folder in the Autodesk Vault folder tree to list the files contained in the folder.
- Right-click a file, and then select View in Window. The selected file is displayed in the viewer associated with that file type.
Note: If a visualization file is present, the View in Window command will open the DWF file, not the parent CAD file.
By default, the double-click action is to open the file. The default action can be changed to view the file when double-clicked.
View Inventor files in Autodesk Vault
Right-click a file, and then select View in Window. The selected file is displayed in the Inventor Read-only Mode.
Inventor Read-only Mode is the default setting for viewing Inventor files.
You can view the Inventor files for read-only purposes. You can't edit or update the files using Vault commands in the Inventor Read-only mode. Vault administrator can provide read-only access to the users who need just to view the Inventor files.
Note: The Vault add-in for Inventor Read-only Mode is only available for Vault Professional.
