Log In and Out of a Vault
Log in and out of Vault from the Vault Client, Vault add-ins, or the Product Design Suite.
Before You Start
You need the following before you can log in to a vault.
- An installed version of Autodesk Vault Client, a Vault add-in (for-example,-the-vault-add-in-for-autocad-or-the-vault-add-in-for-microsoft-office), or the Product Design Suite.
- An account on the Autodesk Data Management Server (adms).
- The name or IP address of the server on which the adms is installed; for example, 99.99.999.999 or SERVERNAME.
- The user name and password for the account, assigned by an administrator; if you are on a Windows Active Directory network (vault-professional), these are the same as your network credentials and are used automatically.
- The name of the Vault database you want to access.
Locate the Log In Command
The location of the Log In command depends on which application you are using to access the vault.
- Vault Client: Log In is on the File menu.
- Vault add-ins: Log In is on the Vault ribbon. For AutoCAD, you can also use the command vltlogin.
- Product Design Suite: Log In is at Options > Vault Server.
Log in to a Vault
Click Log In.
Select the appropriate method from the Authentication drop-down:
Vault Account: Requires a Vault-specific user name with a password.
Note: If the administrator has enforced a password policy and your current password does not meet the requirements, you will receive a prompt to change your Vault account password. After successfully updating your password, you will be able to log in to Vault using the new password.Windows Account: Uses Windows Active Directory credentials, which are entered for you.
Autodesk ID: Uses Autodesk ID credentials.
Enter the appropriate user name and password as directed by your administrator. If you are using Windows Active Directory, this information is entered for you automatically.
If you select Autodesk ID, you will need to sign-in to your Autodesk account.
- In the Autodesk - Sign In dialog box, enter the e-mail address you used when you registered for your account.
- Enter your password.
- Click Sign in.
Note: If you log out of Autodesk ID in some other Autodesk application, you won't be logged out of Vault. However, you won't be able to access Vault's cloud related services such as Shared Views.Enter the server name for the vault. Click the drop-down arrow to see recently used server names.
In the Vault box, enter the name of the Vault database. Click the drop-down arrow to see recently used database names, or click
to see a list of all databases.
Optional: Select whether to automatically log in the next time you use Vault.
Log in to the Vault Client with Administrative Privileges
With Autodesk Vault Client, if you are the system administrator or are using Vault Client and Server on a single computer, you can log in using these default values.
User Name: | Administrator |
Password: | <empty> |
Server: | <SERVERNAME> |
Vault: | Vault |
Log Out of a Vault
- Click Log Out. In the Vault Client, this is on the File menu. In a Vault add-in, this is on the Vault ribbon. (AutoCAD users can also use the vltlogout command.) For Product Design Suite users, Log Out is found at Options > Vault Server.
Reset Username and/or Password
- If you want to reset your password, contact your Vault administrator. Ensure you are resetting your Vault user account and not your Autodesk account.
