Uninstall Autodesk Vault

There are two stages to uninstalling Autodesk Vault. You must first uninstall the product using the Control Panel and then remove the Autodesk Vault Server. Follow the steps in this section to uninstall Autodesk Vault and remove all components for the Autodesk Data Management Server.

How you uninstall Autodesk software varies according to the operating system you use and the software you want to remove. See Remove Autodesk software for detailed information.

Uninstall Autodesk Vault Using the Control Panel

Note: Uninstalling any application or application component may cause other applications not to work properly.
  1. Open the Microsoft Windows Control Panel. Select Programs And Features to see a list of installed software.
  2. Select the Autodesk application to uninstall.
  3. Click Uninstall.
  4. In the Autodesk Maintenance Wizard, click Uninstall.
  5. Follow the instructions in the wizard to proceed with uninstalling the selected product.

Remove the Vault Server

Important: When you remove the Autodesk Vault Server, you are required to uninstall the SQL server and remove the AUTODESKVAULT instance. Uninstalling the SQL server and removing the AUTODESKVAULT instance prevents any previously-used data from being automatically migrated. As a result, user-created Content Center libraries will not be available in the new Autodesk Data Management Server (adms) installation unless you attach them or import them manually.

Removing the Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$AUTODESKVAULT" folder deletes all vault data and Content Center libraries from the default install location. If you need to access these libraries at a later date, be sure to make a back-up prior to removing this folder.

Remove all components of the Autodesk Data Management Server

Important: These steps permanently remove all vault and Content Center library data. Do not proceed with these steps unless your vault and library data have been backed up. Perform these steps only if you intend to completely remove all of the Autodesk Data Management Server components and associated data.

Remove Microsoft SQL Express Adv 20xx.

  1. From the Microsoft Windows Add or Remove Software dialog, select Microsoft SQL Express Adv 20xx, depending on your SQL installation.
  2. Click Remove.
  3. In the Microsoft SQL Server Uninstall dialog box, select the Remove SQL Server Instance Components check box and then select AUTODESKVAULT: Database Engine.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Microsoft SQL Server sequentially numbers instance folders. Once the instance has been removed using the Control Panel, locate and remove the folder MSSQL.n where n represents the number assigned to the AUTODESKVAULT instance folder. For more information on removing this folder, see the Microsoft SQL Server help. By default, this is installed at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1.
Note: Removing SQL Server AUTODESKVAULT Database Engine prevents any previously-used data from migrating automatically. Therefore, user Content Center libraries are not available in the new adms installation unless you attach them or import them manually.

Removing the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.n folder deletes all vault data and Content Center libraries from the default install location. If you need to access these libraries at a later date, make a back-up prior to removing this folder.
