Microsoft Visual Studio is an object-oriented programming environment that runs independently of AutoCAD and other applications. While Microsoft Visual Studio is external to AutoCAD, it is able to interact with the AutoCAD through either the native AutoCAD .NET API or ActiveX/COM library.
