X7002 | FATAL ERROR: X7002 | The current estimate for the stable time increment is: ****
It is unlikely we will complete the current step of: **** Time left in the step is: **** |
Cause: | There are two possibilities for this error to arise.
First, an excessively large duration may have been specified for the simulation. Explicit dynamic analysis uses very small time increments that are based upon the stability limit of the model. Typically, the time increment size is milliseconds or smaller. Durations larger than 100 milliseconds are typically excessive. Second, the stability limit for the model has deteriorated due to excessive deformation. This case typically arises late in the simulation. This typically happens when nonsensical loads have been applied to the model that cause it to deform beyond any reasonable expectations. While Autodesk Explicit has a full large-deformation formulation that allows extremely large strains, there are limits to how far you can distort a model (example: you cannot turn a part "inside-out"). If the loads and boundary conditions are reasonable, then defining appropriate element deletion criteria can often fix this problem. |
|
Action: |
If the first case is encountered, simply reduce the duration of the simulation. For the second case, check the loads and boundary conditions or enable element deletion criteria to remove the distorting elements from the mesh. |
|
Remarks: | Note that if the second case due to excessive distortion arises, it could be that the prescribed boundary conditions or transient loads may be excessive. Check to see if the displacements being prescribed are reasonable. |
