Autodesk Civil 3D uses minimum frontage, minimum area, minimum width, and minimum depth criteria when laying out plots with the Plot Layout Tools plot creation commands.
By setting the plot sizing parameters, the program can assist you to lay out new plots according to these particular constraints. After you define the frontage start and end points, preview graphics display the proposed solution based on the plot sizing parameter values.
Upon completion of the command and if there is no solution, you are prompted to adjust the plot sizing parameters. Each time the Plot Layout Tools plot sizing parameters are modified, the preview is updated , and you are prompted to accept the results.
The following plot sizing parameters are used by all the plot creation and editing commands. See Create Plots - Layout Dialog Box for more information.
The following values are optional and only used for specific layout criteria.
To cancel a plot creation command while using the Plots Layout Tools toolbar, you can press ESC, but be sure to watch the command line. If you press ESC too many times, the toolbar closes. If you simply hit ESC until the command line indicates you should select from the layout tools, you will have successfully canceled the command while keeping the toolbar open. This is also true of other Autodesk Civil 3D toolbars. You can also press ESC to change the Plot settings without having to close and reopen the toolbar.
