FAQ: Why is Detect and Convert not showing any results?

Learn about how you can troubleshoot your empty Detect palette to get detection results.

Detect and Convert is a Tech Preview feature, which means that the detection capability is continually evolving. In certain cases, the Detect palette may not display any results after scanning your drawings.

Here are some key considerations when working with the feature.

Internet Connectivity

Detect and Convert is an online service, and the quality of your internet connection directly impacts the amount of content the feature can detect.

If no objects are being detected, check your internet connection and try detection again when you have a better connection.

Drawing Size and Complexity

The detection process may not generate results when the drawing is too large or complex.

If the detection process cannot be completed, try running detection on a smaller or less complex drawing.
Note: Drawings under 10MB are more likely to generate results.

Drawing Units

To enhance detection accuracy and ensure proper alignment of objects with their correct dimensions, it's recommended to set your drawing to real-world units before starting the detection.

Specifically, Detect and Convert supports these units:
  • Millimeter
  • Centimeter
  • Decimeter
  • Inch
  • Feet
  • Yard
  • Meter

In the Detect palette, click to display the Drawing Units dialog box where you can specify the appropriate scale for blocks within the drawing, optimizing the detection results.

Supported Types of Objects

Detect and Convert works best on architectural objects in floor plans, although not all architectural objects may be accurately detected yet.

Currently, this feature is best at recognizing architectural objects, such as:
  • Single-swing doors
  • Double-swing doors
  • Toilets
  • Bathtubs
  • Urinals
  • Generic lighting symbols
