VIEWPORTLAYER (System Variable)

Specifies a default layer for new viewports.

Initial value:	"use current"

This system variable applies only to new viewports created with the MVIEW and VPORTS commands.

Values other than the "." (use current) value override the current layer (CLAYER system variable).

Note: In the AutoCAD Mechanical toolset, the VIEWPORTLAYER system variable is not used. Instead, viewports are created on the AM_VIEWS layer.
