To Import CAiCE Surface Triangles (TR!)

Import triangles from a CAiCE DTM triangle (TR!) file.

The TR! file is created by CAiCE, and is a binary file that contains surface information in the form of triangles. After the import process, Autodesk Civil 3D creates surface triangles, or faces, that represent the original CAiCE triangles. The faces become a snapshot of the original surface without re-triangulating the data in Autodesk Civil 3D.

The resulting Autodesk Civil 3D surface object uses the surface name that is in the TR! file and uses the default layer for the surface object.

To import triangles from a CAiCE TRI file

  1. In Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand Miscellaneous Utilities CAiCE Translator. Double-click Import CAiCE DTM Triangles (*TRI).
  2. In the Import Other Formats dialog box, navigate to the CAiCE project folder. Select the desired file. Click Open.

The surface is imported into the drawing, and it is displayed in Toolspace on the Prospector tab.
