Displaying a Long Section

Display a Long Section from the GeoPlan Window

1. Click (Long Section Pick) on the toolbar and then click a pipe on the GeoPlan to create a long section.
2. The software selects:
   • If Branch IDs defined: All the nodes and pipes in the branch of the pipe that was clicked.
   • If Branch IDs not defined: All the nodes and pipes in either direction from the point where you clicked until a junction or a link that does not satisfy Long Section Pick Criteria is reached. At a junction the Long Section Pick will follow a path according to the Long Section Pick Criteria set in the Long Section Pick Dialog.
3. You can hold the CTRL key and click additional pipes to add them to the section, or existing pipes to remove them. The only limitation is that the section must remain continuous and without branches.

Alternatively:

1. Clixk (New Long Section) on the toolbar or choose New Long Section window from the Window menu to open a new long-section window
2. Return to the GeoPlan and use the Long Section Pick tool on the toolbar to select the pipes to be viewed. Items 2 and 3 above are relevant for this method.

   Or

3. Right-click and choose Create from selected branches from the popup menu to create a long section from the pipes with the same Branch ID as pipes selected in the network. A page will be created on the Long Section window for each Branch ID selected.

Or

1. Right-click and choose Create from selection from the popup menu to create a long section from the existing selected objects in the network.
   Note: The network selection may contain gaps and branches and therefore not contain a valid long section. InfoAsset Manager attempts to create a long section and stops when an invalid part of the section is reached. The long section displayed depends on the internal order of the selected objects within the software, and is therefore not predictable.

When a Long Section is saved, it is in fact the objects selected in the Long Section window that are saved.

Display a Long Section from a Selection List

1. Click (New Long Section) on the toolbar. If no selection is currently displayed on the GeoPlan, the Long Section window will be empty.
2. Drag and drop the desired selection from the Selection List Group onto the Long Section window.

   The Long Section window will be displayed for the selected objects.

Or

1. Drag and drop the desired selection from the Selection List Group onto the GeoPlan.
2. Click (New Long Section) on the toolbar.

   A Long Section window of the selected object is displayed and the same selection is still visible on the GeoPlan window.
