Consequence Calculator

The Consequence Calculator is used to calculate the Consequence score for pipes. Consequence score values can subsequently be used in conjunction with Likelihood score values by the Risk Assessment tool to determine a risk score for each pipe.

The calculator is displayed when the Consequence calculator option is selected from the Network menu. The options available differ between Collection and Distribution networks.

See Calculating Consequence Scores for further details.

Parameter Description
SRM Rating

Check these options to calculate consequence ratings based on the SRM procedure.

See Calculating Consequence Scores for details.

Critical Factors

Check the critical factors to be included in the consequence calculation process.

If a critical factor is unchecked, the value/setting for the field as specified in the pipe properties will be ignored.

Flag dropdown Select a flag from the dropdown list to be applied to fields updated by the consequence calculation process.

Parameter Description
Critical Factors

Check the critical factors to be included in the consequence calculation process.

If a critical factor is unchecked, the value/setting for the field as specified in the pipe properties will be ignored.

Criticality Matrix

Lookup table used for calculating a consequence rating based on number of customers supplied by pipe and internal diameter of pipe.

Criteria can be edited, rows may be deleted from the grid or further values added to the bottom of the grid.

Column Description
Score

Consequence rating.

If the consequence rating determined from the Criticality matrix is greater than the consequence ratings from the Critical factors, this score will be the value with which the pipe Consequence score field will be updated.

Occupancy

Number of customers supplied by the pipe.

Calculated as the sum of the Occupancy values of Property objects associated with the pipe. If a property does not have an Occupancy specified, the Default occupancy value is used for that property.

Key Occupancy

Number of key customers supplied by the pipe.

Calculated as the sum of the Occupancy (Key) values of Property objects associated with the pipe. If a property does not have an Occupancy (Key) specified, the Default key occupancy value is used for that property.

Internal Diameter Diameter of the pipe taken from value specified in Internal diameter field of pipe.
Default occupancy Occupancy value to be used for Properties that do not have an Occupancy value specified.
Default key occupancy Key occupancy value to be used for Properties that do not have an Occupancy (Key) value specified.
