To Work with Table-driven iFeatures

You can edit a table-driven iFeature, assign a unique browser name to an iFeature row, use table-driven iFeatures in an iPart table, and create custom properties in iFeature files.

Edit a table-driven iFeature

1. Do one of the following:

   • Open the table-driven iFeature (.ide) file, and on the ribbon, click iFeature tab iFeature Author Table.
   • In a part file with a table-driven iFeature, right-click the table icon, and then click Edit Table.

2. Click the tabs in the left pane and select parameters to define, and then use the arrows to move them to the right pane. Click OK.

3. On the Properties tab, select properties and use the right arrow to add them to the right pane. Click in the Name and Prompt boxes to customize item names and placement instructions. The properties are added as columns in the iFeature table. Exception: On the Parameters and Geometry tabs, you cannot add or remove the variables defined in the iFeature list.

4. On the Threads tab, left pane, click thread specifications, and then click the arrow to add them to the right pane. In the Thread Feature Specification tab, note the particular text and format used in the spreadsheet. Use the same text and format to add designations for family, size, pitch, and direction in the cells of the thread variables.

5. On the Other tab, click the Name box to enter a custom item and corresponding prompt message.

6. In the iFeature table (bottom left), right-click on a cell to enter values, insert and delete rows, and set other properties to create unique variations of the iFeature.

7. Right-click in the table at the bottom to add or delete rows, or modify column attributes.

   Note: You cannot add or delete parameters. Your changes affect only the current table-driven iFeature. Other instances of the same table-driven iFeature do not update.

Assign a Unique Browser Name to an iFeature Row

1. Click Tools tab Options panel Application Options.

2. In Application options, iFeature tab, in Browser Name, enable option Use Key 1 to provide a unique identity for a table-driven iFeature.

   Note: In a part file with a table-driven iFeature, use the Key 1 value name to identify a specific characteristic of an iFeature.

Use Table-driven iFeatures in an iPart Table

1. In an iPart file, insert a table-driven iFeature.
2. In the table, iFeatures tab, add an iFeatures column. You can specify the iFeature value to use in each row. You can choose to compute or suppress the iFeature on a row-by-row basis.

Create Custom Properties in iFeatures Files

1. In a part file, insert an iFeature.

2. In the Custom iProperties tab of the part, add custom properties for the iFeature.

   Note: If you create a drawing of the part, the custom iFeature properties are available in the drawing.
