Factors dialog box (ANSI/AGMA 2001-D04: 2005)
The display in this window depends upon the option selected in the Method of Strength Calculation selection list in the Calculation tab. You must have the ANSI/AGMA 2001-D04:2005 selected.

Common Factors |
Overload Factor K o | Overload Factor is intended to account for an occasional load of the nominal design load W t . It can be established from experience with the particular application. Otherwise use K o = 1. Click Factors... on the context menu to open Overload Factor dialog box where you can select the value. |
Dynamic Factor K v | Dynamic Factor takes into account load increments due to internal dynamic effects. |
Size Factor K s | Size Factor reflects non-uniformity of material properties. It depends primarily on tooth size and gear size. |
Reliability Factor K R | Reliability Factor accounts for the effect of the normal statistical distribution of failures found in materials testing. |
Temperature Factor K T | Temperature Factor takes into account effect of temperature on oil film and material properties. |
Load Distribution Factor K m | Load Distribution Factor account influence of non-uniform distribution of the load along the lines of contact. |
Lead Correction Factor C mc | Lead Correction Factor accounts influence of lead modification by crowning or lead correction. |
Mesh Alignment Correction Factor C e | Mesh Alignment Correction Factor takes into account manufacturing or assembly techniques improvements. |
Pinion Proportion Modifier C pm | Pinion Proportion Modifier takes into account influence of shaft deflections and bearing clearances. |
Mesh Alignment Factor C ma | Mesh Alignment Factor accounts for the misalignment of the axes of rotation from all causes other than elastic deformations. |

Surface Condition Factor C f | Surface Condition Factor takes into account influence of surface finish and plasticity effects. |
Stress Cycle Factor Z N | Stress Cycle Factor accounts for higher load capacity for a limited number of load cycles. |
Hardness Ratio Factor C H | Hardness Ratio Factor takes into account influence of gear ratio, surface finish and hardness of pinion and gear. |
Geometry Factor I | Geometry Factor relates to the shape of the tooth at the point of contact, the most heavily loaded point. |

Reverse Loading Factor Y a | Reverse Loading Factor accounts for the influence of reversible load of teeth. |

Stress Cycle Factor Y N | Stress Cycle Factor accounts for higher load capacity for a limited number of load cycles. |
