In this release of Inventor, the File Open and Save dialogs were modernized to use the standard Windows File dialog components, along with a few other enhancements.
The most notable changes include:
The active project is moved to the top left of the dialog.
The file path bar now displays the full path instead of just the current folder and is editable.
File options are available and vary by file type. For Inventor native file types (.ipt, *.iam, *.idw, *.ipn), the *Options** are now included in the file dialog itself, compared to previous versions that displayed an additional dialog box. Note that the options for non-Inventor file formats remain unchanged and are still in separate dialogs.
A link to directly open and view the iProperties of the selected file has been added to the lower right part of the dialog.
Other enhancements for this release include:
The workspace/library tree is now merged into the overall folder tree view, allowing you to scroll through the entire file system as well as the workspace/library folders. The existing Inventor and workspace folders have been retained, but they are added on top of the existing Windows navigation controls. Standard Windows directory navigation is provided below the Inventor folders. Note that previously, custom folders were shown in a hierarchy, now they are displayed as a flat list.
The Details tab shows information available in the tooltip in a persistent panel.
When saving a new file or using "Save As" for an existing file, the preview option can be set in the File Dialog.
