Check out the enhancements for part simplification.
The Simplify command can now be accessed in the Part environment, from the 3D Model tab Simplification panel.
Use it to reduce the complexity of a part by removing features, and excluding bodies. Start the command and refine the parameters that define the simplified model. When defined, the Simplify feature is created in the browser.
Presets can be synced between the part and assembly simplify panels.
There are 4 options to select to replace components with simple shapes:
None Select this option when you are not using envelopes for the simplification.
Whole Part Creates an envelope for the whole part. The result is imprecise and useful for developing a "keep out" area for the design. When this option is selected the Components and Features groups are hidden.
Each Body Creates each body as its own envelope.
Selected Bodies Selected bodies are replaced with envelopes.
You also have the options to Exclude Bodies, selecting bodies to be excluded from the simplified part, and Remove Features such as holes, fillets, chamfers, to more specifically simplify the part. The "Remove Features" section uses shape recognition technology (ASM) to remove features, making it effective on imported geometry. It allows for easy feature removal when working with models in Inventor.
The Preview button at the end of the Remove Features section is enabled when any feature removal is selected. Use it to preview the removed features in the scene. Any change will discard the preview and enable the Preview button again.
Based on the Inventor color scheme, the preview is shown in different colors:
Add Preview color where material is added.
Cut Preview color where material is removed.
Intersect Preview for preserved features or bodies.
For "Whole Part" replace type, envelope size dimensions are now displayed in the preview. Corresponding parameters are added to the Model Parameters group in the Parameters dialog (read-only). When another type of envelope is selected, the existing parameters are set to 0 and a new set of appropriate parameters is created. Parameters are deleted when the last Simplify feature is removed.
