The Physical blowing agent dialog lists data for a phase-changing physical blowing agent. These data are required when the physical blowing agent option is chosen. The foaming gas generated from the physical blowing agent will aid the PU foam molding process together with the foaming gas generated from the PU reaction. Therefore, using a physical blowing agent will make the filling easier for the PU foam molding process.
Ensure you have selected Chemical Foam Molding as the molding process. Click (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings), and click Next to go to the Foam Molding Setting dialog, then click Edit data associated with the Polyurethane (PU) foaming.
Data element | Explanation |
---|---|
MB | Molecular weight of the foaming gas generated from physical blowing agent |
Mno | Initial average molecular weight of the polymerizing mixture |
Density, BL | Density of the physical blowing agent in liquid or solid form |
Heat capacity, BL | Heat capacity of the physical blowing agent in liquid or solid form |
Heat capacity, BG | Heat capacity of the foaming gas generated from physical blowing agent |
TB,A | A constant of the relationship between the mole fraction of the blowing agent in liquid phase (XBL) and boiling temperature of blowing agent (TB). The relationship is given as XBL = TB,A * TB + TB,B. |
TB,B | Another constant of the relationship between the mole fraction of the blowing agent in liquid phase (XBL) and boiling temperature of blowing agent (TB). |
Endothermic heat of reaction | The amount of heat absorbed by the physical blowing agent during the reaction |
Initial liquid physical blowing agent mass ratio | Initial mass ratio of physical blowing agent in liquid or solid form (ranges from 0 to 1) |
Note Default values for physical blowing agent properties data are provided by the solver. However, it is recommended to use the data measured for each physical blowing agent for an accurate simulation.
