Shorten the start, end, top, or bottom of a steel beam, brace, or column to accommodate the geometry necessary for steel fabrication elements.
To shorten a steel framing element
- Click Steel tab
Modifiers panel
(Shorten).
- Click on the steel framing element. The cut will be placed on the nearest end to where you clicked on the element.
Note: The cut is created on the nearest edge of the selected structural element and you can not change its position after you create it. - Select the cut to access its properties in the Properties palette:
- Increase the length value further shortens the cut
- Enter a negative length value to extend the element
- To create a diagonal cut, assign angle values along the beam height and width.
Element cuts by shortening are only visible when the Detail Level of the view is set to Fine.
