Energy simulation can sometimes fail for a variety of reasons.
The following are four of the most common reasons for a failed energy simulation.

Elements are too thick or thin. This error occurs when the
Revit model contains unusual material thermal properties, causing an instability in the simulation.
To confirm the cause of the problem, in the Advanced Energy Settings dialog, under Material Thermal Properties, disable Detailed Elements. Then try the energy simulation again. For more information, see Use Detailed Elements for Material Thermal Properties.
- Duplicate vertices or inverted vertices. This error and others like it may occur when the model is located far from the origin 0,0,0. This is a known issue.
To address the issue, reset the coordinates closer to the model: In Revit, click Manage tab
Project Location panelCoordinates drop-down
(Specify Coordinates at Point). Pick a point in the model at the ground plane level, somewhere in the center of the building. Set X = 0, Y = 0, and Z to the ground plane level.
- Building size. If the building is narrower than the Perimeter Zone Depth, the EAM will be created, but the energy simulation will.
To address the issue, set the perimeter Zone Depth to Zero in the Energy Settings dialog.
- Simulation Factors not calculated. Simulation factors are available per user across model. IN order to recieve results, use Simulation Management and select factor values to simulate for the active model.
