Troubleshooting: User Interface Component Gray/Empty

The user interface is missing the Create Tab.

Issue

Any of the following user interface elements become gray or empty.
  • Revit Home
  • Project Browser
  • Manage Links
  • Coordination Model Changes
  • Shared Views
  • Load Autodesk Family from the Cloud
  • Electrical Analytical Load Combination
  • Link Topography
  • Parameter Service
  • Cloud Rendering
  • Save a Cloud Model

The issue may arise if WebView2 fails to initialize during startup.

Solution

Try the following steps to get WebView2 to properly initialize.
  • Shut down all Revit sessions and start a new session. If you are still experiencing a problem, proceed to the next step.
  • Shut down and reboot the computer. Restart Revit. If you are still experiencing a problem, proceed to the next step.
  • If the previous steps have not resolved the issue, you can try editing the Windows registry.
    1. On the Windows search bar, type "regedit". Select Registry Editor to start the editor.
    2. Expand the following path in the Registry Editor: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
    3. Look through the list for the key, C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView\Application\131.0.2903.99\msedgewebview2.exe. If the key exists, shutdown all Revit instances, delete the key, reboot the computer, and restart Revit.
Note: The version "131.0.2903.99" may be a different value depending on your specific computer.
