Troubleshooting with Vault server Log Files

Learn where to find various log files and other files used for troubleshooting potential issues with Vault.

For the purposes of this section, we refer to the %temp% folder. This is the temp folder location defined for the Windows user account that is logged in on the computer.

By default, the location of the folder is: C:\Users\ACCOUNTNAME\AppData\Local\Temp.

In this example, ACCOUNTNAME is the name of your user account in Windows.

Vault Connector Logs

Vault Connector logs provide detailed visibility into the synchronisation process between Autodesk Vault and Fusion Manage. These logs are essential for diagnosing sync failures, verifying task execution, and understanding the flow of item data across systems.

Where to Find the Logs

Vault Connector logs are accessible via:

Common Log Events

Each log entry includes a timestamp, task ID, and status message. Below are typical patterns:

Event Type Example Log Entry
Agent Start INF Agent message queue is starting...
Token Refresh INF ApsTokenRefreshService is starting...
Sync Initiation INF TaskId:50242 Sync Item start
Metadata Missing INF No sync-item-info data available for 17543
Sync Success INF TaskId:50242 completed with status Succeeded. Duration: 9.99 seconds
Attachment Upload INF Upload attachment associatedFiles succeeded for Item(17543)

Sync Status Indicators

Vault Items synced to Fusion Manage are tracked using three key properties:

Sync Scenario Link State Sync Status Synced Date
Item never synced Blank Blank Blank
Latest version synced successfully Up to Date Successful Date & Time
Latest version synced but failed Out of Date Error Date & Time
Latest version not yet synced Out of Date Blank Blank

These properties are stored as entity attributes and reflect the latest sync status across item versions.

Known Issues

Refer to the [Vault 2026.1 Release Notes](https://help.autodesk.com/view/VAULT/2026/ENU/?guid=Vault_d_defects_2026_1_html for current limitations, including:

Vault server Installation Log Files

%temp%\EDMlogPrechecks.xml Prechecks.xsl

Autodesk Vault <year> client installation logs:

%temp%Autodesk Vault <year> Install.log, Autodesk Vault <year> Setup.log, Autodesk Vault <year> Install (en-us).log

The SQL logs are named sequentially with the most recent (current) file being named errorlog followed by errorlog.1 then errorlog.2 and so on.

DWG iFilter Log files

There are log files maintained by the various iFilters used when performing some Vault operations like re-index. These log files can be helpful when troubleshooting problems with block attributes or properties not indexing as expected in Vault Client.

Folder location and file name:

Depending on your server setup, your iFilter log files may be contained in a different location. C:\Windows\Temp\ OR %TEMP%

DWGFILT.*.log
