About additional GIS layers

Maps or other background layers, created using the appropriate format for the GIS component being used, can be displayed behind the network in the GeoPlan window.

Web Map Service (WMS) layers, ArcGIS Server Map layers, ArcGIS Map layers, and other GIS background layers can be viewed when using the map control.

InfoWorks WS Pro can:

• Save sets of one or more background layers in the database and then reload them later in any model. For more details, see About layer lists.
• Choose to open previously used layers each time the network is opened. For more details, see Options dialog - GeoPlan page.
• Find objects in additional GIS layers.

The path and filename of the files containing map layers is stored. You must ensure that the files remain in the location specified, or InfoWorks WS Pro will be unable to reload them.

Note: If a map layer file is in, or below, either the working folder or the remote data root directory, InfoWorks WS Pro stores the file path relative to that directory.
