Create Model Groups

Learn how to create model groups to better organize your model data.

To create a model group at the top level

  1. In the Model Group window or the Explorer window, right-click Database and select New Model Group.
  2. In the New Name - Model Group dialog, change the default name for the model group if required.
  3. To generate a default set of sub-groups within the model group, check the Generate sub-groups box.
  4. To automatically generate sub-groups with default names, check the Auto name sub-groups box .
    Note: The Auto name sub-groups box does not appear unless the Generate sub-groups box is checked.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If you did not check the Auto name sub-groups box, a prompt for the name of each sub-group will be displayed before it is created:
    • A New Name dialog will be displayed containing a default name for the sub-group.
    • Edit the name if required.
    • To accept the name currently displayed and generate the sub-group, click OK.
    • To skip generation of the current sub-group and display the creation dialog of the next sub-group to be generated, click Cancel.
    • If you want to automatically name the remaining sub-groups, check the Auto name subgroups box.

To a model group within an existing model group

  1. In the Model Group window or in the Explorer window, right-click a model group name and select New Model Group.
  2. Use the New Name dialog to create the model group, as described above.
