Markers and Segment Markers can be added to a clip, sequence, or timeline segment from the Effects environment. The workflow is similar to what is available in the Timeline environment.
To add a marker, either use:
In all cases, the Add Marker window is opened, making it possible to set a name, comment, or different colour.
The application prevents the addition of a marker or segment marker on a frame that is not represented by what is shown inside a viewport. Therefore, the addition is not possible when the view of the current viewport is set to one of these context views:
It is also not possible to add a marker or segment marker on a frame that is not available at the sequence level. For example, the addition is disabled if the positioner is over the head or tail part of the media when the timebar is set to Media Range.
It is not possible to have multiple markers or segment markers on the same frame. Therefore, if an attempt to add a marker is made on a frame that already has a marker on it, the Edit Marker window is opened instead of the Add Marker window.
To edit existing markers, use the Markers list inside the Explorer.
The display of markers and segment markers in the Timebar can be enabled/disabled by selecting Show Markers or Hide Markers in the Markers submenu of the Timebar's Options drop-down.
Use the Show Markers Duration option to either display only a single line representing the marker, even when it spans multiple frames in the Timebar, or to display a coloured region spanning its full duration.
Annotations can be added to markers in a viewport set to a view showing an image. The addition of annotations follows the same availability rules as markers.
