Appearance Profiler Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to create and manage appearance profiles, and apply them to your model.

Profiles Area

Use the Profiles drop-down list to select an existing profile to use or edit. Or use the buttons described below to create or import a new profile.

Buttons

Create - Create a profile.

Import - Import an appearance profile DAT or XML file.

Refresh - Refresh the selected profile to load updates.

Edit - Edit the selected profile name.

Duplicate - Duplicate the selected profile.

Open folder - Open the folder containing the saved profiles.

Delete - Delete the selected profile.

Reset - Reset the appearance of the model.

Hide/Show/Ghost - Toggle between hiding, showing, or ghosting profiles when no matching selection is found.

Rule Area

Use this area to define and test the object selection criteria that will be used by an appearance profile selector.

By Property Tab

Category

Use this field to enter the property category to search on, for example 'Item', 'System Type', 'Material'.

Property

Use this field to enter the property type to search on, for example ‘Name’, ‘System Type’, ‘Material’.

Equals

Use the drop-down list to select the appropriate condition operator, for example ‘Equals’. Enter the property value to search for in the field provided, for example ‘Equipment’.

By Set Tab

Sets List

This is a list of all search and selection sets available in the currently open file. To choose a set, click it.

Refresh

You can add or remove selection and search sets in your model. To synchronize your changes with the sets list shown in the Appearance Profiler dialog, click Refresh.

Color

Use the color picker to choose the color that will be used to override appearance of the selected objects.

Transparency

Use the slider to choose transparency level (0% to 100%) that will be used to override the appearance of the selected objects. You can also type the value into the corresponding box. A higher value makes objects more transparent; a lower value makes objects more opaque.

Visibility

Use the drop-down list to choose between Hidden, Unchanged, and Shown. This setting determines the visibility of the selected objects in the model.

Test Selection

Depending on whether you use the By Property or By Set tab, click this button to test the search criteria or set you chose. All objects that satisfy the criteria will be selected in the model.

Add

Click this button to add the specified rule to the profile. It will be displayed in the Profile Rules area.

Profile Rules Area

Selector List

The Selector List shows all configured rules (or selectors) and their details including visibility, transparency, and color.

Color

Use the color picker to choose the color that will be used to override the appearance of the selected objects.

Delete/Delete All

Click the Delete icon next to a rule to delete that rule from the list. Click the Delete icon in the header to delete all rules in the list. You will be prompted to confirm your decision.

Edit

Click the Edit icon next to the rule that you want to edit. In edit mode, you can change the rule settings using the Rule area. When you've finished, click Done to apply the changes.

Duplicate

Click the Duplicate icon next to a rule to create a copy of it. You can use this as a basis to create a similar rule.

Test

Click the Test icon next to a rule to test the selection for that rule in the model.

Arrows

Use the arrows next to the selectors to move them up and down in the list to reorder them. The order of selectors in the list is important as they are applied procedurally.

Tip: You can use Shift+Click to quickly move a selector to the top or bottom of the list.
