Publish Cloud Models

Publish workshared or non-workshared Revit models to the cloud so other team members who don’t have Revit can view, search, and work with the cloud models.

When you publish a model, only the default 3D view and 2D sheets are published by default. Additional sheets and views are published when you change the Publish Settings—see Select Views and Sheets to Publish to the Cloud. The time required to complete the publishing operation depends on the size of the model. You can publish a single model or multiple models to the cloud at a given time.

Note: When you publish models, they are visible to external stakeholders. Only publish versions of the model that you want external stakeholders to see.

About publishing with links

Publish with links when you want the published viewable to show the host model in the context of its linked models. This is useful when reviewers need to understand how the model coordinates with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, MEP, or site models.

Publishing with links can help when you need to:

By default, publishing includes loaded links. The time required to publish depends on the size of the model, and publishing with links may take longer when linked models are large or numerous.

About publishing without links

To save time, you can publish just the host model without links. Publish without links when you only need to share the host model. This option publishes the selected model without including content from linked models. It can be useful when linked model context is not needed, or when you want to reduce the amount of data included in the published viewable.

Publishing without links can help when you need to:
  • Save time by publishing only the host model.
  • Share a smaller, more focused version of the model.
  • Review or distribute a single discipline model without showing linked content from other teams.
  • Avoid publishing linked model information that is not relevant to the current review.
  • Create a clearer viewable when linked models would add unnecessary visual complexity.
