Isolate Annotations

Use Isolate Annotations to focus on annotation elements while creating, editing, or repositioning annotations in a view.

To isolate annotations

  1. Optional: Select elements in the view to limit the annotations initially isolated.

If you don't select any elements, all annotations in the view are considered.

  2. Click Annotate tab Tag panel (Isolate Annotations).

The Modify | Isolate Annotations contextual tab displays. Annotation elements are displayed in the foreground, and model elements are displayed in halftone and cannot be selected.

  3. Optional: To control which annotation categories are isolated, on the Modify | Isolate Annotations tab Isolate Annotations panel, click (Include Categories).
  4. In the Include Categories dialog, select the annotation categories to include, and click Apply.

Changing the included categories resets the initial selection and considers annotations in the entire view.

  5. Create, select, move, or edit annotations as needed.

You can switch between views while Isolate Annotations is active. The settings in Include Categories persist when you switch between views.

  6. On the Modify | Isolate Annotations tab Isolate Annotations panel, click (Finish) to save your changes or (Cancel) to discard your changes and exit Isolate Annotations.
