Location and Site Dialog: Location Tab

Use the Location tab of the Location and Site dialog to specify the model's location.

The model location specifies a real-world location for the purposes of simple Revit-based analyses, such as shadow studies.

Note: Defining a location using the Internet Mapping Service or the Default City List does not specify a geographic location (geolocation) for the model. To specify a geolocation, acquire coordinates from a DWG file or another Revit model, or specify a draft geolocation as part of a Forma workflow. When a geolocation is defined for the model, the Location dialog displays the information.

For Define Location by, select one of the following values:

Default City List

Until you specify a different location, it is defined as <Default> and is set to the latitude and longitude of the major city specified for your locale. No Internet connection is required.

If Internet service is unavailable, you can still use this method to specify a location; however, the corresponding longitude and latitude cannot be set until your Internet connection is restored.

For Project Address, do one of the following:

Click Search.

The search results display in the map window. If any alerts display, see Troubleshooting: Geographic Location and Project Address for guidance.

Note: The selected weather station provides data used in systems analysis and energy analysis. These features are not available in Revit LT.

To adjust the map, use the following tools:

Get Geolocation from Survey Point

If you acquire geolocation data from a linked model or file using Acquire Coordinates, or specify a draft geolocation as part of a Forma workflow, this option becomes available. In addition, the geolocation data displays in the dialog.

If you need to change the model's geolocation data, you can do either of the following:
