Configure Thin Client Access

Set Thin Client options for a user or group. You can set read-only access, choose which workspaces show, and filter the files and items.

Note: You must be assigned the role of Administrator to perform this operation.
  1. Select Tools > Administration > Global Settings.

  2. In the Global Settings dialog box, select the Security tab, and then click Manage Access.

  3. In the User and Group Management dialog box, select the Users tab or the Groups tab. Select a user or group, and then open the Configure Thin Client Access dialog box.

  4. Under Thin Client, set Read-only access. This controls whether the user can edit content.

  5. Under Visible workspaces, choose which workspaces the user can see:

    • Show Files workspace
    • Show Items workspace
    • Show Change Orders workspace
  6. Under Files Workspace Filters, choose which files show in the Files workspace:

    • Show only released files. Unreleased files are hidden.
    • Show only latest file version. Older file versions are hidden.
  7. Under Items Workspace Filters, choose which items show in the Items workspace:

    • Show only released items. Unreleased items are hidden.
    • Show only latest item version. Older item versions are hidden.
  8. Set each option to Inherit, Yes, or No. Inherit uses the value from the parent group or the global setting.

Note: By default, every option in a new user profile is set to Inherit, so the user follows the values from the parent group or the global setting until you change them.
Note: For a group, the Inherit option is not available. Set each option to Yes or No.
  9. Click OK.

Default workspace on sign-in

When a user signs in to the Thin Client, they return to the root of the last workspace they visited. If there is no last-visited workspace, they land on the default workspace allowed by their access. The default follows the priority order Files, then Items, then Change Orders. For example, a user without Files access who has Items and Change Orders access lands on the Items workspace.

When a user signs back in, the Thin Client returns them to the page they were viewing before they signed out.
