Copy a Library
Copy a Content Center library.
Access the server console:
- On the local machine if the Content Center libraries are installed locally.
- On the remote server if the Content Center libraries are being hosted by a remote server.
- In the navigation pane, expand the Libraries folder.
- In the Libraries folder, right-click the library to copy and then select Copy.
- In the Copy Library dialog box, the display name, partition, and database name associated with the library to copy are displayed.
- Enter a name for the new copy of the library.
- From the Partition drop-down list, select a partition for the new copy of the library. The partition associates the copied library with a particular release of Autodesk Inventor. Only Inventor users using the corresponding version of Inventor can access the libraries in the matching partition.
- Enter the database name for the copy of the library.
- Click OK.
Note: The Partition drop-down list only offers partitions that are higher than the partition of the source library. As a result:
- A library on an older partition can be copied only once, and only to a higher partition version. After a copy is created on a higher partition, the same source library cannot be copied to that partition again.
- A library on the latest available partition cannot be copied, because no higher partition is available. If you try to copy such a library, the message "This library cannot be copied; its partition cannot be updated to any other partition." is displayed.
For example, on a Vault 2027 server, a library on the Inventor 2025 partition can be copied to a 2026 or 2027 partition, but only once. A library on the Inventor 2027 partition cannot be copied.
To create another library based on a library that is on the latest partition, use the Autodesk Inventor Content Center Library Transfer Guide to transfer the library to Inventor Desktop Content, copy the required families into a new library, and then transfer the new library back to the Autodesk Vault Server.
