Vault maps Inventor physical properties by default. This removes the need for custom iLogic rules.

What physical properties map to Vault

Vault maps these Inventor physical properties:

• Area - Surface area of the part or assembly (square centimeter, sq cm)
• Mass - Total mass of the part or assembly (gram, g)
• Volume - Volume measurement of the part or assembly (cubic centimeter, cc)

These properties are available without iLogic rules or custom mappings.

Display format

Physical property values show as numbers only in Vault:

• Values are converted to Inventor default unit system and then displayed in Vault.
• Units used in the Inventor file are not currently shown in Vault.
• Only the number moves to Vault properties

Regardless of the units used for Area, Mass, and Volume properties in an Inventor file, the Vault Client converts and displays values in square centimeters (sq cm) for Area, cubic centimeters (cc) for Volume, and grams (g) for Mass. For example, if Inventor shows "125.5 mm²" for Area, Vault shows "1.255".

Configuration requirements

The physical properties, Area, Mass, Volume are available by default in newly created Vault 2027. For a restored or upgraded vault, you should manually create Area, Mass, Volume properties and map them to Inventor properties.

• Compatible with current Vault property settings

You can view and search these properties in Vault Client using standard property views and search functions.
