Problem: In a view, you want to use the Visibility/Graphics dialog to change the display or graphics of an element category, but the category displays in gray, and you cannot change it.
Issue: The visibility of the category may be controlled by a view template.
Solution: Do one of the following:
- Modify the assigned view template: In the Project Browser, click the view name. On the Properties palette, click the value for View Template. On the Apply View Template dialog, for the V/G Overrides parameter that corresponds to the target category, do one of the following:
- Click Edit, and change the visibility settings of the target category.
- Clear its Include check box so the view template no longer controls visibility settings for that set of categories.
The change to the view template affects all other views that are dependent on the template.
- Disassociate the view from the template: In the Project Browser, click the view name. On the Properties palette, for View Template, select None.
The view is no longer linked to the template. The view retains its current properties, but future changes to the template will not affect the view. You can now override the visibility of element categories.
- Assign a new template to the view: In the Project Browser, click the view name. On the Properties palette, click the value for View Template. On the Apply View Template dialog, select another template that defines visibility of the target category as desired, or that does not define its visibility at all so you can define it for each individual view.
