By default, subfolders will automatically inherit their parent folder’s folder settings. This includes:
Custom attributes can be set as required for folders. This helps to prevent key metadata from being missing and to ensure that attribute values are correctly input before files can be uploaded. The file validator will open so members can check and edit attribute values during the workflow. If the holding area is turned on, members can choose not to correct attribute values in the file validator and continue. Compliant files will be displayed in the target folder, and non-compliant files will be stored in the holding area.
Members with Manage permission or above can set custom attributes as Required at folder level.
Project administrators can access Folder settings of individual custom attributes at the project level and set them as required.
When you set an attribute as required on a parent folder, any empty subfolders will also inherit the setting.
When a required attribute is changed to optional by deselecting Required, and this action results in files in the holding area becoming compliant, these files will be automatically moved from the holding area to their respective folders.
