Flow Render Submitter

A window for configuring and submitting render jobs.

Project

Shows the current project.

Output

Overrides the image size pixel resolution.

Output Files

Specifies the output path where the rendered image will be saved.

Beauty File: Sets the main 'Beauty' output. This is the same as the main render output in the 3ds Max Render Settings dialog.

AOVs: Sets the Arnold AOVs (Arbitrary Output Variables).

Automatic Downloads

Defines the Automatic Downloads mode. This will automatically download the Flow Render output, assuming 3ds Max is still running when the job is finished.

Mode:

Time Range

Choose the frame range that you wish to render.

Advanced Options

Frames Per Task

Sets the number of frames processed in each render task. This setting can improve rendering efficiency by reducing the overhead of starting a worker and loading the scene for each task. By default, each task renders 1 frame. If your frames render quickly, increasing this value (for example, 10 or more frames per task) can reduce overhead and improve overall rendering performance. If your frames take longer to render, the default value of 1 is typically recommended.

For example, rendering 100 frames with 10 frames per task produces 10 tasks that will run in parallel on 10 Flow Render worker machines (10 being the maximum number of parallel tasks on Flow).

Note:

This option is supported for regular renders and turntables. It is not supported for texture baking.

Force Upload: Forces the re-upload of scene files that are now missing on the Flow Render cloud. Use this if the render fails due to missing assets, or when you suspect the previously uploaded files no longer match what's on the local machine (for example, after working on a different machine or after a long time since the last submission).

Debug:

The following options are intended for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes. They allow you to inspect or preserve the intermediate files generated during Flow Render submission. These settings are not recommended for routine production use, as they may increase export time or disk usage.

ASCII format:

Exports the intermediate Flow Render file in human-readable ASCII format instead of the default binary format. This is useful for inspecting and troubleshooting scene data, but because binary files are smaller and faster to process, ASCII format should be used for debugging only.

Keep exported file: When enabled, the intermediate file generated during Flow Render submission (for example, USD or ASS) is retained on disk after the job is submitted. By default, these temporary export files are deleted once the submission process completes successfully. Keeping the exported file can be useful for:

⚠️ This option is intended for troubleshooting purposes only. Retaining exported files may consume additional disk space and is not recommended for routine production use.
