Flow Render Tutorial

Setup

Flow Render is available from the Arnold menu and the MAXtoA Toolbar.

Submit a Render Job

When your scene is ready, and the cameras, output, and Render Settings are set, you can submit the render job.

Note:

To access the Web Interface Job Monitor, you will need to sign in to https://graphengine.autodesk.com/ using your Autodesk account.

Download Outputs

Note:

If a file already exists, then the downloaded file has an index in the file name, such as myimage_(1).exr.

Troubleshoot

There are two stages of the job that can fail. Job submission running on the local machine, and the render job running in the cloud.

Job Submission Failed

When the job submission fails, no job entry is created in the job monitor. Failed submissions are listed on the Job Submission panel under the Failed section. You can see the error message and click on the View Log... button for more details. Failed submissions can be removed from the list by clicking on the Trash can icon in the top right corner.

Render Job Failed

Render jobs are listed in the Flow Render Monitor. When a render job fails, for example, because there are missing texture maps, you can check the Arnold render log file to view any errors. Click on the View details link, or click on the job and go to Job Logs. Alternatively, you can download the log file via the Download button.

Note:

In case you need assistance, contact Autodesk support and refer to the ID of the render job, which you find in the job details. Select the job, go to Job Details, and copy the Job ID.
