Flow Render Overview

Submitting Jobs

The Arnold plugins (Arnold for 3ds Max, Arnold for Cinema 4D, Arnold for Houdini, and Arnold for Maya) all include a Flow Render job submitter.

See the documentation for the Arnold plugin you use:

Monitoring Jobs

After a job is submitted, a new render job is created and displayed in the Flow Render Monitor. The monitor window shows the progress and status of the render job.

When the render job is finished, select the job in the Flow Render Monitor window to show more in-depth information, view the preview, and check the render log.

Note:

You can also access a web-based Job Monitor, by signing in to https://graphengine.autodesk.com/ with your Autodesk ID.

Download

If the render job is completed, you can download the rendered images and log files.

Troubleshooting Jobs

There are two stages of a Flow Render job that can fail:

Job Submission Failed

When the job submission fails, no job entry is created in the job monitor. Failed submissions are listed on the Job Submission panel under the Failed section. You can see the error message and click on the View Log button for more details.

The Flow Render submitter log file, which contains debug information of job submissions, can be found in these locations:

Render Job Failed

Render jobs are listed in the Flow Render Monitor. When a render job fails, for example, because there are missing texture maps, you can check the Arnold render log file to view any errors. Click on the View details link, or click on the job and go to Job Logs. Alternatively, you can download the log file via the Download button.

Note:

In case you need assistance, contact Autodesk support and refer to the ID of the render job, which you find in the job details. Select the job, go to Job Details, and copy the Job ID.
