Install Network License Manager

Install network license management software on Windows, macOS, or Linux systems.

Download the most recent version of Network License Manager (NLM) for your operating system. Install NLM on each server that you plan to use for managing product licenses.

Windows server

  1. Download NLM for Windows.
  2. Start the installer for your Autodesk product.
  3. Click Install Tools & Utilities.
  4. Select Network License Manager and click Install.
  5. Choose a path to a local drive using the drive letter.
  6. Note: By default, NLM tools are installed in the following folder: C:\Autodesk\Network License Manager\.

macOS server

  1. Download NLM for macOS.
  2. Navigate to the NetworkLicenseManager folder on the installer you downloaded or your product installation media.
  3. If you downloaded an installer, double-click the NLM .dmg file in your Downloads folder to expand it.
  4. Double-click the NLM package icon.
  5. Click Continue to begin the installation and follow instructions to install the NLM tools. Be sure to install in a folder on a local device.
  6. Click Close when you see the "Install Succeeded" message.
Note: By default, NLM tools are installed in the following folder: /usr/local/flexnetserver.

Linux server

  1. Download NLM for Linux.
  2. Open a shell as a superuser (using su).
  3. Extract the NLM package from the compressed file that you downloaded or navigate to the NetworkLicenseManager directory on your product installation media.
  4. Enter the following command, where # is the package number:
    rpm -ivh adlmflexnetserver-#.rpm
  5. Note: By default, NLM tools are installed in the following folder: /opt/flexnetserver.
